The football footage was made possible by Jack Roberts, Sports Officer, who
hired a cine camera in order to film the climax of what had been a
spectacular 1966/67 season for the North Wales Hospital team.  The first
sequence is the last match of the Dyserth Area League, an evening kick-off
at the Hospital ground, against Penyffordd, which accounts for the fading
light. The Hospital team needed to score an unlikely seven goals to clinch
the League title on goal difference over their main rivals, Mostyn YMCA.

The seven goals were indeed scored for the Hospital but Penyffordd also
scored which meant that the championship title was denied by the most
slender of mathematical differences. During that exceptional season the team
scored goals for fun and the 'deadly striking duo,' Doug Griffiths and Dewi
Williams, scored almost a hundred goals between them.

The next sequence features the final of the Liverpool Hospitals Cup, played
at Winwick Hospital, Warrington which took place a week later and the
Hospital team emerged comfortable 3-0 winners. The team enjoyed a coach load
of vocal support from the travelling 'fanatics', many of whom are seen on
film.

The film ultimately ended up in my possession, courtesy of Jack Roberts, and
it was an easy decision for me to part with the film as I gave it to Keith
Warburton to take to his new home in Canada. Keith was passionate about our
team (and all matters pertaining to the Hospital, as verified by his
frequent contributions to the Historical website) and was an inspirational
character and a tireless worker for our cause. I knew that the film was
going to a good home.

The number of people accessing the site is increasing all the time. It would be really interesting to hear from people about their interest in the hospital and about their experiences there. Stories and anecdotes will be good. If we are to maintain the interest in the history of what was probably one of the most important establishments in North Wales we need your contributions, so please send them in they are really important.

Best wishes to all friends and ex-colleagues.
